The best advice concerning your content is that keywords provide search engine ranking. Or, the choice of keywords will determine how high your sites rank in the SE’s.
I know for many reading this article this information seems like old hat, keep in mind not everyone has a thorough understanding of how search engines operate.
When a person searches online for say ‘acne prevention’ the search engine returns queries based on indexed sites relevant to the search. If your site uses terms related to ‘acne’ it is possible to show up in those returns.
The problem comes in when your keywords chosen are as generic as the example I used above. Or, the search engines can identify your site as Spam if you over use keywords too. They need to be found in context with the overall content. The Se’s are becoming amazingly smart in understanding content.
You are far better off writing your content from experience and knowledge of the topic, or niche and not have to worry about being penalized. If you don’t have that experience in a given niche, consider hiring a ghostwriter who does have the knowledge. Doing so will place your content much higher in the search placements.
Researching keywords is quite helpful. There are many free tools and tutorials available to help you in this area, I won’t cover it to much here. But, one area often overlooked for finding great keywords is to study your own website stats. You will be amazed at some of the search terms showing up in your stats people use to find your site.
Use those terms and search phrases in new content. Just be sure it is relevant to your existing content and you will be just fine. Another tip, use the plural of these search terms too. This way even when someone is searching for the non-plural version your content will still come up in the search returns. If, it is indexed.
And your site will be indexed by following common sense and let your keywords provide search engine ranking naturally rather than trying to ‘game’ the SE’s. Just write information in the same manner as you would actually speak to people and your content will be fine.
