Whew! To answer that question would take more time than you and I care to give. I would like to point out…there really are no secrets to getting website traffic.
At least not in the traditional sense of a secret.
Yes it is true some things work very well at driving traffic to your website. Some of these ‘methods’ are not all that well known by website owners. This in turn makes those who do know what methods work well…holding a ’secret’ if you will allow yourself to believe secrets are out there waiting to be discovered.
Take for instance Squidoo. Maybe you have heard of this website yourself. And maybe you have heard some people use that site quite well in driving traffic to their website.
It is true Squidoo works for traffic… unfortunately, not everyone experiences the kind of results they hope for when using Squidoo. So do the marketeres having success with Squidoo know a secret?
Not really.
They merely have figured out how Squidoo works best for their situation. You can do the same. It is easy…but first let’s back up just a little bit.
Most people make the mistake of getting caught up seeking out the secrets to success online.
Success really boils down to persistence in just about anything in life. Yes, it is true that some people are more gifted, say in sports, than the rest of us. That is good for them, me, and you, we need to be persistent. At least I do anyway.
Being successful at driving traffic to your website requires that same persistence. Secrets do not apply in traffic generation. I don’t care who is making the claim either.
You want success? Be persistent!
Okay, back to Squidoo.
By now I imagine you know a little bit about using well searched after “keywords” found in the search engines for your marketing and website content. Squidoo works very well with keywords, your content and search engine ranking.
Squidoo is designed and developed to get users’ lenses to rank well in the search engines…Google in particular.
Armed with that knowledge, your job is to find the “keywords or phrases” people use to search online. You do not need to understand how Squidoo works. just know that it does.
Trying to figure out Squidoo is a waste of your time. Figure out what keywords you are going to use in your lense content and you will be fine.
I have one lense on page 1 of Google, for over a year now, that has been making money from the very first week. The lense is not about ‘making money online’ so don’t get your hopes up. My experience with successful money making lenses is quite removed from the internet marketing make money crowd.
I suggest you look into affiliate programs to promote with your lenses too which are physical product oriented. Try to stay away from information products if you can.
The reason being…information products are not what people all over the World are searching for. Yes, they all want information…but they want information on what is the best purchase, not what is the best information product to purchase.
Women are seeking clothes, make-up, diet pills, romance, home decor, etc. And men, they want gear aimed at their hobbies, like fishing gear for example.
Affiliate commisions are much easier to come by when promoting those types of offers. Yes, it is true you do not make as much moeny off of any one sale but multiple sales are much, much more likely to occur.
And this is because the competition is much less fierce. You can get to the top faster, easier and stay there too.
